The lamington is an undisputed national treasure. A chocolate coated, coconut dusted sponge of delight that much of the population now denies due to dietary restrictions. Let it be known that National Lamington Day of 2018 has brought change! The flavoursome duo, Social Sweet Seed and Botanical Bazaar, have crafted a taste to stop the nation… The Aloe Spiked Cactus Lamington! Available in traditionally-baked style alongside an innovative raw vegan adaptation. Vegans, welcome back to lamington land!
While native peyote cactus juice evokes hallucinogenic trances, the Aloe Vera burst in this particular breed of cactus will induce nothing other than patriotic states of joy and the occasional transcendence back to cheerful childhood memories. Other side effects may include euphoric salivation and dwindling self-control; these spiked bites are undeniably addictive. And if you’re kind to the Love Local bar staff, they may even further spike your cactus with a shot of liquid courage!
These prickly treasures have been handcrafted by Social Sweet Seeds very own trailblazer in vegan creations, Amanda Richards. Chocolate cups act as the potted pillars of this rounded buttery lamington sponge immersed in chocolate Aloe Vera syrup and generously, yet tenderly, rolled in leafy green coconut shards. A cashew butter maple ball is at the centre of the vegan lamington complemented by a dousing of Aloe Vera, swirls of raw chocolate and a botanical green coconut finish.
With only 100 available, be sure to dig right in at the Love Local Garden Bar at this year’s Botanical Bazaar; the Gold Coasts largest garden festival inspired by all things leafy, green and botanical with over 90 green exhibitors, nature workshops, celebrity gardeners, live entertainment and dangerously delicious lamingtons!
